Farmer Howard Wuertz’s family first started growing cotton in the area in the 1930s. Back in those days they used dirt canals to move water. Since then, he’s become a pioneer in using sub-surface drip irrigation to grow cotton in Arizona- drastically reducing his water usage and teaching others around the world how to do the same.
